Ambitious Cape Town-based TV presenter, model and business women Mishka Patel is one inspiring woman and taking the industry by storm. SA Life Magazine sat down with the beauty and did a bit of personal recon for our readers and Mishka-fans!

Describe yourself in 5 words?

Bold, determined, strong-willed, focused and passionate.

What are you currently up to, career wise?

I WISH I could tell you but I’m busy with a very exciting opportunity that you guys will know of really soon!

What was your childhood like?

Exactly what I’d hoped. I was raised in a home filled with love and I was given many wonderful opportunities by my parents.

When did you first discover a love for the entertainment industry?

After entering Miss South Africa in 2014, I found a passion for the industry.

Who are you when you’re simply at home, on a Sunday afternoon?

The REAL Mishka Patel. Relaxed, with my fiancé and kittens.

Who do you admire within the South African entertainment industry, and why?

Rolene Strauss, Jo-Ann Strauss & Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. They all inspire me for various reasons but also because I know them all individually. They all have very driven and passionate personalities, with BIG hearts and a fierce and empowering message.

How do you deal with negative criticism?

I don’t. Unless it’s constructive.

Who is your role model and why?

It was and always will be my mother. She had the most loving and caring heart and raised me to become the woman I am today. If I could be HALF the woman she was, I’d be happy.

Where’s the most interesting place you have travelled to and why?

I wouldn’t say it was interesting but it was amazing due to the cool activities we got to do- Mauritius!! Stand up paddle boarding on the Mauritian ocean, swimming with dolphins and parasailing.. magical!

What motto or words do you live by?

YOLO, So make it count!

We all know that the media doesn’t always get all their info correct, what is the strangest thing you have read about yourself that wasn’t true?

Luckily nothing yet! Haha! And I hope to keep it that way.

What is the most memorable tweet you have received, or been tagged in?

Oooh, I can’t really think now. But the most memorable ones are always ones showing love or support towards what I do, or something inspiring.

Everybody starts their working careers off small, what was your very first job?

Oh wow! Haha! My first job was working in a men’s boutique store! I was 16/17.

The entertainment industry is a tough industry to break into. What encouraging words do you have for anyone starting out?

Just keep on keeping on. If you really want it and you’re willing work very hard, just keep on keeping on! What’s meant to be, will always be.

In your line of work, you get to meet a wide variety of people. Who was your most memorable?

Jo-Ann Strauss truly stuck with me.

I am sure you have encountered a few fans along the way, what has been your favourite fan encounter?

I always wear a hat in Somerset Mall where my billboards are up. One girl ran up to shouting: Stop Hiding Mishka Patel! We want pics hahahahaha

Did you always see yourself in the entertainment industry, or did you have different dreams as a child?

Never ever. I was raised in a very strict household so I always saw myself as a business woman or lawyer.

What has been your most challenging decision in your career thus far? What made it so challenging?

I face difficulties every day. I have to make decisions every day. Big ones and small. Not one stuck out so far, but I always try my best to make any situation easier or better or just simply try to make the best decisions for my brand.

Everyone harbours a pet peeve. What is yours?

Loud eating or eating with an open mouth.

Final Question. If you could choose any superhero to play on a big budget Hollywood production, who would you play?

I legit want to be the Punisher. Haha, he’s so cool. But something more PG13? Cat woman? Haha!
