Conservation watch: MyBaguse makes high-quality and stylish reusable foldable bags.

You know SA Life Mag is always PRO for a good conservation idea...... meet MyBaguse a concept that was created by Jade Du Toit on a family holiday up the West Coast of South Africa.
After she saw the scary amount of plastic build-up and waste whilst walking the beach with her young son and daughter, she went on a search to find a reusable tote bag that was aesthetically pleasing, durable and compact. With no luck finding what she was looking for, she decided to make the bag she envisioned herself. This was her part in giving back, reducing her carbon footprint and plastic conscious.

According to Pick n Pay, the average lifespan of a reusable bag can equate to over 700 disposable plastic bags. In the past year, the Shoprite Group, which represents both Shoprite and Checkers, sold 700 million plastic bags made from 100% post-consumer recycled material, diverting 7,000 tons of plastic from landfill. An estimated two million bags are thrown away every minute globally, and just 5% of people re-using plastic bags that are used for an average of 12 minutes. According to waste management only 1% of plastic bags are returned for recycling and up to 80% of ocean plastic pollution is from land.
The mission at MyBaguse is to make bags that fulfil many needs, are well-designed, as affordable as possible and produced in a way that’s mindful of the environment. MyBaguse Bags are made from 40% recycled nylon sourced from pre-consumer waste.
