Female-led SA brands join forces against GBV this August.

Four of South Africa’s best examples of female entrepreneurship have joined forces this Women’s Month to drive support not only for other women-owned businesses, but also for those most affected by gender based violence (GBV). Jewellery brand Black Betty, Fashion houses Selfi and Baked Collection and skincare line lelive will all be donating 5% of profits over the course of August 2021 to Future Females Foundation, a non-profit organisation working to combat GBV in South Africa.

TV personality, celebrity and founder of skincare range lelive, Amanda du Pont says that the partnership brings together an eclectic collection of strong women wanting to make a real dent in the struggle against gender based violence. “This collaboration is a celebration of female entrepreneurship and it was a goal from the outset to ensure that our combined efforts would benefit those women who don’t currently have the opportunities that we do. We’re so excited to amplify this coming together of brands to our respective audiences and drum up support far beyond our individual circles of influence,” says du Pont.

Philippa Dods, director at Future Females Foundation, expressed her gratitude for these women-owned businesses coming together to donate to the NPO. “One of our current projects at Future Females Foundation is funding and building a Safehouse in Gugulethu, Cape Town for women who have experienced domestic or sexual violence in the community. Every cent donated from these brands, and their customers, has a direct impact on a woman in need getting the support she deserves. This is how we change the world.”

Lauren Dallas, co-Founder and CEO at Future Females says that it is a crucial time to focus on the financial empowerment of women in South Africa - with so many choosing or being forced into entrepreneurship as a result of the pandemic. “At Future Females we are committed to helping these women gain access to the education, mentorship and community they need to grow their businesses profitably, and sustainably. We love that this campaign is about women supporting women, and hope that the impact reaches far beyond just Women’s Month.”

Customers who buy from any of the four participating brands over the course of August 2021 will also get a bundle of vouchers from the other brands involved i.e. purchase from lelive, and get vouchers to the combined value of R1,000 from the other three participating brands.
