FNB Forest Family Hike 2018 Entries Open.

The 7th annual FNB Family Forest Hike is an opportunity for Knysna Oyster Festival-goers of all ages to enjoy the deep indigenous Harkerville Forest in a fun, friendly and educational way.

The aim of the hike is to educate the public on the ecological importance of the forests while embracing quality time with family, friends and individuals, of all ages in an eco friendly way. Taking place on Monday 2 July, Wednesday 4 July and Friday 6 July 2018, families can choose from one of 3 distances to walk, run, hike or jog.

The legendary Harkerville Trails are considered mountain biking and trail running Utopia. The FNB Forest Family Hike provides the opportunity for people of all ages and fitness levels to absorb the magic of these famous forests with friends and family. You can loosen up your off-day legs with a brisk hike over a longer 10km distance or amble the shorter 6km and 2.5km walks at fairy listening pace. Who knows, you may just spot a Knysna Loerie, or better, an elephant.

“Our aim is to educate the ecological importance of the forests whilst embracing quality time, health and wellness for all ages in an eco friendly way.” Comments Event Organiser Paul Ingpen. The first 360 online entries will receive a stylish technical Merrell jacket to the value of R800 (13 years and upwards).

All kids will receive a very useful FNB winter buff among other treats, including an entertaining talk on the fascinating history of the region, intimate information about the rare forest plant and animal species and more.Pre and post hike, participants will also enjoy FNB’s famous hospitality in a cosy & stylish marquee including hot chocolate, soup, snacks & music. Colouring in competitions, magical make-up, wands, wings, crayons, blow bubbles and amazing lucky draw prizes from the Crazy Store will be available for all.
