Men, Look your best this Valentine’s Day with Fino.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and you’ve secured the date, ordered the flowers and booked the restaurant. Everything is in place, so the only thing left to worry about is you! Looking your best means feeling your best, and on the most romantic night of the year, confidence goes a long way.

By now you already know the pre-date grooming drill:

Smelling good is important – a little bit of aftershave and deodorant is essential. Iron your shirt and comb your hair – she’ll notice the little details. But what about your beard?

Beards can be tricky when it comes to romance. Some women swoon over facial hair and others not so much. No matter which side of the fence she’s on, one thing is certain: if your facial hair is well-groomed, clean and in a good condition, she’s more likely to be attracted to it. Whether you’re rocking a full-on beard or stubble, brush up on your grooming to make sure you get that Valentine’s Day kiss.

Keep it clean

Crumbs from breakfast in your beard? This is a big no-go! Be sure to cleanse your beard thoroughly twice a day, and if that isn’t enough, take to it with a fine tooth comb to make sure nothing gets stuck in there. FINO’s Gel Face Wash (R70.00) can be used on the skin as well as the beard, and is gentle enough to cleanse without drying out the hair.

Keep it soft

Facial hair is naturally harder than the hair on your head, so it needs some TLC to feel soft and touchable. After all, the number one reason women give for not liking beards is that they are too rough on the skin! Moisturise your beard regularly with the FINO Beard and Shave Oil (R135.00). This multipurpose product hydrates the beard as well as the skin underneath, and can be used often as it does not make the hair oily.

Keep it tidy

If you’ve got a beard, make sure you trim any longer stray hairs that may be sticking out. Groom the perimeters of the beard to ensure the border between your skin and beard is neat and tidy. Stragglers don’t make a good impression!

Don’t go too short

A buffer period is essential if you’re shaving your beard or trimming your stubble. If you’re going from full-on beard to clean shaven, you may need some time to get used to the new look (and a new look is never a good idea before a date!). If you want to rock some sexy stubble, shave a couple of days before the date – just for it to grow long enough so that it doesn’t feel like sandpaper against her skin. If you’re shaving, be sure to apply FINO Soothe MAN (R69.95) at least twice a day to prevent ingrown hair, redness, sensitivity and razor burn.
