We caught up with Organizit owner, Lize Botha, and got all the information you need, when planning your next big dinner club, kids birthday party, engagement celebration or wedding anniversary.
How did you get into party planning - tell us where it all started? I always had the vision of being a business woman and wanted to incorporate being independent with my passion. I saw the perfect opportunity in the Food and Beverage industry. I have a degree in Food and Beverage Management and started out in the industry in 2002. I officially joined the Organizit team in 2016 when I opened the Centurion branch and has since taken over Organizit SA.
What do you enjoy most about your job? I absolutely adore the moment when the birthday girl/boy arrives all dressed up for their special day and I can share in the moment when my setup exceeds all their expectations and leaves lasting memories for their families. After working so closely with each family on their unique celebration my clients become like family and I get involved in all their special celebrations.
Where do you draw inspiration/creativity from? When I meet a client for the first time and we start talking about their event requirements, I pick up on their unique style and take time to do research on their theme or dream to perfect the occasion. I am inspired by everything that shouts bespoke celebration.
What is the biggest misconception about party planning?
The fact that any event that Organizit become a part of is not a very intimate occasion, my clients invites me into their homes, I meet their families and I am trusted with the most valuable person in their family.
Talk us through your latest party - what was the brief and what elements did you then include in making it a success? Innette wife of Lions Rugby player Andries Ferreira was inspired by the girly farm yard theme I styled for a well-known Afrikaans singer. I wanted the theme to suit the little girls personality so I incorporated flower details and very soft tones to enhance the theme, we kept it very cute with the “baby animals” wearing flower crowns.
What one tip would you give all clients, when searching for the right party planner? Your planner needs to be passionate about planning your special occasion, you need to find the special element that sets them apart from the other planners in the industry.
Let’s talk location! Why is the venue an important party planning element? Choosing a venue can be so overwhelming, you need to be clear on your expectations so that the planner can consider and advise accordingly and arrange a visit to the venue before booking the venue to ensure that it meets your expectations.

What in your opinion, are the 3 biggest must-haves at any party?
A photographer is key as photographs are the only thing left after such a beautiful event.
It can’t be a party without a special birthday or celebration cake. And of course sharing the day with your special family and friends.
