SEA POINT welcomes local jewellery design brand, BLACK BETTY.

Black Betty Jewellery has officially opened the doors to its beautiful new design and retail space in Sea Point, Cape Town. The homegrown brand, started in 2012 by Capetonian jeweller, Kristin Weixelbaumer, produces an array of jewellery designs using hand-cut precious and semi-precious stones suspended in treasured metals. The Black Betty range includes special launches like the popular Pinky Swear and Polki diamond collections as well as beautifully designed bespoke creations.

Black Betty has long boasted kiosk spaces in both Hyde Park, Johannesburg and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Weixelbaumer says that this new space replaces the Waterfront Kiosk and is the culmination of ideas, hard work and a vision for the future. “Black Betty Sea Point is the physical representation of a personality that we’ve created for this brand over many years – it's where all aspects of Black Betty meet, it’s where the true essence of the brand can be experienced,” says Weixelbaumer.

The new space, which previously housed the famous Kleinsky’s Deli (now across the street) boasts the full Black Betty jewellery range, a sneak peek of their burgeoning clothing line as well as a piercing studio for those visitors that simply cannot wait to ‘decorate’ themselves.

Weixelbaumer explains the Black Betty ethos as the ethereal notion that precious gems find their owners. She says that the brand exists to facilitate this magnetism. “Jewellery isn’t just about decoration or being a slave to the latest trend of style. We believe that there is a definite sense of magic in wearing a polished and cherished fragment of the earth on your neck, ears or fingers,” says Weixelbaumer. “Jewellery helps to clearly define your sense of femininity, intent and connectedness.”

Black Betty designers derive endless joy from working with the earth’s hidden treasures and aims to transmit this joy to its customers by creating timeless pieces of jewellery for all women and men.

Black Betty welcomes Capetonians and visitors to the mother city to experience their new store at 95 Regent Rd, Sea Point, Cape Town. Open 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday. Or log onto www.blackbettydesign.com
