The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, wrap up SA tour with presidential visit.
Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, officially ended their Sussex Royal Tour of Africa last night, Wednesday the 2nd of October 2019, with a visit to the president’s residence in Tshwane. President Cyril Ramaphosa and First Lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe welcomed their Royal Highnesses.
On Wednesday, the couple concluded their ten-day royal tour of Southern-Africa before setting off back to the UK. The Sussex Royal Tour saw them attending various engagements in Cape Town, Angola, Botswana, Malawi and Johannesburg with their four-month old son, Archie. Archie Harrison even made his first official royal appearance during a visit to the Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Cape Town.
On their last day, the couple also made a visit to the Tembisa township to learn more about the Youth Employment Services (Yes4Youth) hub which gives the youth opportunities to succeed. In Tembisa, Harry and Meghan met with young entrepreneurs at the hub that ‘helps create opportunity, and is a hive for creativity and social enterprise’.
The couple also met with Graça Machel – the politician, humanitarian, and international advocate for women's and children's rights, widow of the late Nelson Mandela.
At the Yes4Youth hub, the Duke of Sussex said in his speech:
“It’s moments like today and meeting all of you, that inspires us. Whether supporting young entrepreneurs, empowering women and girls, or challenging the issue of gender-based violence; whether it’s been planting trees, clearing landmines, or protecting the most beautiful creatures and places on the planet, these experiences have affirmed our love of Africa, and the issues that are so important to us.
“We will firmly stand up for what we believe. We are fortunate enough to have a position that gives us amazing opportunities, and we want to do all we can to play our part in building a better world.
“We will always seek to challenge injustice and to speak out for those who may feel unheard. So no matter your background, your nationality, your age or gender, your sexuality, your physical ability, no matter your circumstance or colour or of your skin – we believe in you, and we intend to spend our entire lives making sure you have the opportunity to succeed – and to change the world.”

The royal couple gifted the president with a stunning photo of ankole cattle called “Mankind”, taken by David Yarrow. It is reportedly said to be quite a thoughtful gift as the president breeds cattle.
