Introducing Collagen Induction Therapy…

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a medical aesthetic treatment incorporating micro-needling technology in order to remodel your skin. It is a minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body.

As collagen naturally weakens as we age, this new aesthetic technology induces collagen production, resulting in long-term rejuvenation effects. What’s not to love?

How does it work? Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a new medical aesthetic technology that incorporates micro-needling science that will re-texturise your skin, plump out fine line lines, revitalize static wrinkles and reduce scarring and pigmentation. This form of treatment will help to induce collagen production for long term rejuvenation effects.

This specific procedure involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin.

These micro-injuries, as with any normal injury such as cutting your finger in the kitchen, stimulate your body’s natural response to repair the damaged area.

Within two hours of the treatment these little injuries will have already closed, but what happens in the deeper layers of the skin, is what really matters. In essence, your skin is remodeled or re-texturised.

Collagen Induction Therapy can treat skin conditions such as lack of skin radiance, dry skin, skin dullness, wrinkles, crow’s feet, hyper pigmentation, scars, loss of elasticity and stretch marks.

In terms of the pain levels and what the treatment feels like – a topical anaesthetic agent is applied prior to each treatment to reduce comfort. It is not painful, however, you may feel some discomfort from the pressure applied. Bony areas such as your forehead, nose, the area beneath the eyes and the jawbone are more sensitive than the fleshy areas like your cheeks.

Total prep and procedure time is about an hour. Best results are achieved in courses of six bi-monthly treatments. Repeating the treatment more often can cause scar tissue and damage to the skin.

With regards to the Collagen Induction Therapy, make sure you schedule your medical aesthetic treatment (lip fillers, botox etc) appointments 2 weeks (14 days) before or after the treatment.

Your CIT treatment includes a vitamin-rich mask, which is applied to help soothe the skin after your treatment. This treatment is mostly used on the face but can be performed on the body as well.

It’s safe! It’s minimally invasive, requiring no downtime. It’s considered safe for most people who are in overall good health however, the procedure isn’t advised for people who use certain acne medications or for women who are pregnant.

The importance of collagen:

One of the most well-known benefits of collagen is its ability to promote glowing, vibrant, beautiful skin. This essential protein provides elasticity to the skin, helping it to appear more youthful and healthy. But as you get older and collagen production declines then fine lines, loose skin, and dryness can occur.
