Starting with your podcast. "StoryTime with Joshua Eady" has become a hit podcast. Can you share the origin story of how you decided to venture into the world of podcasting?

I started podcasting when Covid hit, and we could no longer get on set for film and television projects. I missed meeting interesting people and wanted a way to continue learning from others.

Talk us through the name: "StoryTime with Joshua Eady". What does that mean for you?

The idea behind the name has always been to create a space for people to tell their stories. To have an authentic conversation that takes us behind the scenes into special moments in people's lives. A person with a “win” is always admirable, but the story of achieving the win is where we connect the most and feel the most connection. It’s in the ups and downs that life happens.

When did you start the podcast and what was your vision for it?

I started the podcast in 2020 as a way to stay connected to people. The vision was always to invite interesting people, and in the future expand further. I later partnered with a good friend of mine, Ryan “Choppy” Pike, and we started what it is today.

What does it take to become an Actor in the South African market?

Practice, practice, practice. And take chances.

What is it about acting that interests you?

People, relationships and emotional empathy.

Lights, camera action - do you have any pre-shooting rituals?

It’s different every time for me! Sometimes I need a lot of time before set, getting mentally and physically prepared. And sometimes it works better to let it go and be surprised!

You’ve acted alongside the likes of Joey King and Jacob Elordi of The Kissing Booth. Tell us about that experience and what you took away from it.

The Kissing Booth was a massive moment in my life and career. That time of my life is a time filled with gratitude. I met the most incredible people who gave me a positive outlook on an industry that I love. Truly life-changing

How did you land the role in The Kissing Booth and tell us about your character?

Originally I had auditioned for a different role in the movie. I went in to audition for a role that I was told had no fit with who I am and what my appearance is, so I asked for a second chance, purely because I was just excited to be in the room and would rather do something than nothing. That role was Tuppen, and they had already cast someone for the role, but they gave me the chance and things moved forward from there. I booked the role and was called back in to meet the director. We started filming a week or two later. None of us were expecting it to become what it is today, we all just wanted to act and get on screen with each other!

As a proud South African, what did it mean to you to shoot a movie like The Kissing Booth in South Africa?

I had no idea that this kind of film would be filmed in my home country. It was a surreal feeling to get the chance to do what you love and do it at home. I had always thought it was so far out of reach because I live in South Africa.

Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently on your journey to success? If so, what lessons have you learned from those experiences?

I would have taken more chances. And now will continue to do so.

In a world hungry for authentic talent and compelling narratives, Joshua Eady effortlessly navigates the realms of acting, podcasting, modelling, and content creation with ease. With each venture he undertakes, he leaves an indelible mark, solidifying his position as an international treasure with a future as bright as his boundless talents.
