Water adventures you need to tick off this Summer.

Casually cruise across Sun City’s Waterworld or zip across it at high speeds.

When the mercury rises and the ice in your glass melts quicker than Tupperware on a braai, it’s time to hit the water.

Sun City can up the ante with a variety of fun water activities at Waterworld Lake, situated right in front of the rolling lawns of the Cabanas Hotel. Whether you prefer to ski, cruise or glide over water you can do it all at Waterworld. In fact, if you consider yourself a bit of a sports jock, this is just the place for you.

It is easy to see why Sun City was recently named Africa’s Leading Family Resort in the 2021 World Travel Awards, with a long list of fun water sports and activities available for the whole family. Waterworld alone, is enough to put them on top of the places to go as a family list.

Feel the cool spray against your face as you jet about the lake on a jet ski, by yourself or with a partner. Besides being a fun experience, you will get a great cardio workout and firm arm and leg muscles too. A 30-minute stint on the jet ski can burn over 200 calories!

Or grab onto the handles of an inflatable ring while being towed behind a boat for a fun-filled, adrenaline-pumping tube ride. Up to four tubes can be towed per ride, which makes this a great experience for family or a group of friends.

For a more extreme experience opt for a water snake ride. Straddle an inflatable pencil-shaped pontoon with handles and hold on tight for an elated bumpy ride, which can take up to five people.

For those with experience (and coordination) water-skiing and wakeboarding are an age-old classic. That said, for those that have not had any previous experience, Waterworld offers lessons with instructors who teach on land first before accompanying you out on the water.

Experience the exhilaration of flight as you parasail effortlessly 35 meters in the air. Drink in the magnificent views across Sun City, before gently landing gently back onto the water. Double the excitement by going up in pairs, either side by side or in tandem.

But if you’re looking for a more relaxed experience look no further than a cruise around the lake at your leisure.

Climb aboard a private cruise boat for either a 30 or 60-minute cruise. Cruises accommodate up to nine people plus the skipper. Alternatively, join 30-minute public cruise and put your feet up while the skipper tells you about the history of Sun City and points out the bird life that live along the shores of the lake.

Or be your own skipper and paddle around the lake in a pedal boat while you spot fish and bird life for yourself. Paddle solo, with your significant other or have fun with the kids. Children under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.

For those who don’t quite have their sea legs, participate in a Kazooma Raceway experience, ride on the Stimela Train, or enjoy Rock Venture Mini Golf.

What are you waiting for? The sun is shining, the water’s cool and the freezers are packed with ice. Apply your sunblock and get out there.
